Many people who achieve great things set lofty goals for themselves. The key phrase here is “for themselves.”
As children, we depend on parents or other grown-ups to provide food, shelter and to supply nurturing care. As adults, we are on our own.
That is the bad news. The good news is that we are entirely capable of providing our own food, our own shelter and care for ourselves — and our ambitions.
When setting goals, make them dependent only on “The Grand I” that lives within you, and not on the love, nurturing, or performance of somebody else. Do this, and you will control your own happiness!
